The comparison of the taxa in question shows that there is considerable uncertainty about the taxonomic classification of the various described populations of <jats:italic>Oiketicoides</jats:italic> around the Mediterranean. The type material of <jats:italic>O. tedaldii</jats:italic> was found to be lost and therefore it is necessary to define a neotype, in order to maintain the stability of the nomenclature.
