In alkaline solution, the oxidation reagent potassium tetrasodium diperiodatocuprate(III) dodecahydrate (KNa4[Cu(HIO6)2[12H2O] reacts with primary and secondary benzylic alcohols whereby good yields of the corresponding carbonyl compounds are obtained.
