X-ray investigations showed a new crystal structure with monoclinic symmetry, space group C<jats:sup>4</jats:sup> <jats:sub>S </jats:sub>-Cc, a = 13.099(3), b = 5.714(1), c = 7.520(2) Å, β = 123,80(3)°, Z = 4. Pb<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>TeO<jats:sub>5</jats:sub> is characterized by <jats:sup>1</jats:sup> <jats:sub>∞</jats:sub>[TeO<jats:sub>5</jats:sub>] chains of octahedra isolated from each other and incorporated into an edge, corner and face connected frame of PbO<jats:sub>7</jats:sub> polyhedra.
