In this way 1-dimensional corrugated chains are formed, interlinked by two oxygen atoms of neighbouring chains, thus forming layers. This interconnection is of polar character within a layer. The in­terlinking oxygen atoms have one carbon- and two Ba<jats:sup>2+</jats:sup> neighbours. CN 8 is completed by two water molecules.
