Rearrangement of 2 into the dimeric complexes 3, trans,trans- [Pt<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>(C≡C−R)<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>(dppm)<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>] is catalyzed by traces of various phosphanes.
