It differs from all other species of <jats:italic>Dysalotus</jats:italic> in having a greater number of teeth on the premaxilla (151–198 <jats:italic>v</jats:italic>. 60–138) and dentary (136–199 <jats:italic>v.</jats:italic> 76–132) and in a shorter upper jaw [51·9–54·9% of head length (<jats:italic>L</jats:italic><jats:sub>H</jats:sub>) <jats:italic>v.</jats:italic> 62·4–74·4% <jats:italic>L</jats:italic><jats:sub>H</jats:sub>] and lower jaw (64·8–67·4% in <jats:italic>L</jats:italic><jats:sub>H</jats:sub> <jats:italic>v.</jats:italic> 75·3–88·1% in <jats:italic>L</jats:italic><jats:sub>H</jats:sub>).
