Both calcium and strontium monoscandates are orthorhombic and analogous to CaFe<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>O<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>. Lattice parameters for CaSc<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>O<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>a re <jats:italic>a</jats:italic><jats:sub>o</jats:sub>= 9.461, <jats:italic>b</jats:italic><jats:sub>o</jats:sub>= 11.122, <jats:italic>c</jats:italic><jats:sub>o</jats:sub>= 3.143 and for SrSc<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>O<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>, <jats:italic>a</jats:italic><jats:sub>o</jats:sub>= 9.698, <jats:italic>b</jats:italic><jats:sub>o</jats:sub>= 11.302, <jats:italic>c</jats:italic><jats:sub>o</jats:sub>= 3.185.
