This work disclosed that the master quorum sensing (QS) regulator OpaR repressed the transcription of<jats:italic>hcp1</jats:italic>encoding the structural component Hcp1 of T6SS1 in<jats:italic>V. parahaemolyticus</jats:italic>, indicating that QS had a negative regulatory action on T6SS1. A single<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" id="M1"><mml:mrow><mml:msup><mml:mi>σ</mml:mi><mml:mrow><mml:mn>54</mml:mn></mml:mrow></mml:msup></mml:mrow></mml:math>-dependent promoter was transcribed for<jats:italic>hcp1</jats:italic>in<jats:italic>V. parahaemolyticus</jats:italic>, and its activity was repressed by the OpaR regulator.
