Four frictionless U-shaped springs are used as a new type of supporting mechanism for the mover. This linear motor can be controlled by either proportional controller or proportional, integral, and derivative controller. However, the springs have a natural frequency and it vibrates the motor. For this reason, an additional circuit is used in the feedback loop which eliminates the vibration of the springs and compensates for the delay of phase of the filter. This filter avoids the resonance of the springs and therefore the controller cannot only be used in this motor but also for the control of machines with some kind of vibrating mechanism. This dc linear motor has a new type Linear Variable Differential Transformer as a position detector.
A SmCo5 field direct current linear motor with U-spring supports Journal of Applied Physics
